DL Windows – Creating Schedules

Most software questions I receive are regarding creating schedules in our DL Windows software for our Trilogy Locks.  The most common questions are; setting a scheduled passage mode and enabling an individual or group of users during set hours, like 7am – 4pm Monday – Friday and Holiday Schedules.  Follow these easy steps to create a passage mode schedule:

Scheduling passage mode from 7am – 4pm Monday - Friday

1.       Double click the lock you want this schedule to be active in

2.       Click the “Schedule” icon at the top of the tool bar

3.       Add a new time zone

4.       Put 7:00am in the start time field & 4:00pm in the stop time field

5.       There is short cut so you don’t have to retype this for each day; highlight 7:00am and right click your mouse, you’ll see a pop up window, choose “set all as current start”.  This will copy the start time down the entire column.  Do the same for the stop time

6.       Make sure only Monday – Friday are enable with check marks, double click those days not to be included.

7.       The bottom half of the screen is where you schedule the time zone.

8.       Write in a description, leave the “Group or user ID” column blank, since this is a function of the lock and not controlling users and choose the correct time zone

9.       Click the “Switch to Schedule” button.  This will combine the two screens into a one and allows you to double check that you have done the schedule/time zone correctly.

By following these easy to do steps, you have the basis to create any type of schedule to open the lock, close the lock, and provide access to an individual user or a group of users.  In my upcoming blog’s we’ll discuss how to create schedules to enable groups of users and Holiday Schedules.

Upgrading DL Windows Version 3.0.4 to 3.6.3

It is not always neccessary to upgrade DL Windows Software from V3.0.4 to V3.6.3.  Most times an upgrade is only necessary is when you start using the newer Trilogy models, like the Narrow Stile, Double-sided, Privacy or you need to new Daylight Savings Time feature not found in V3.0.4.

We suggest that you back up the files on a flash drive before performing the upgrade below.  We have easy to follow steps on our web site.  Click here for link

If you are upgrading from V3.0.4 to V3.6.4, used the handy check list below to make sure you properly upgrade.

If you have existing schedules

·         Schedules are lost upon an upgrade and they have to be manually rebuilt, and re-sent to the locks.

·         Time zones are global and can be used for any door within your account.

·         Schedules are door specific, make sure you create schedules for each door that you want the time zones to work in

Do they have a DTMIII

·         If they have a DTMII, they may need an upgrade chip (SE-DTMIII)

·         The DTMIII works very different than a DTMII and now sends the lock ID or door number to each lock.  You must use the door select mode for this feature

V3.6.3 has many new features and enhancements.  Make sure to follow the steps below for a successful upgrade process.

·         Download V3.6.3 from our web site.  Click here for link

·         Uninstall V3.0.4 and install V3.6.3. (the database remains intact)

·         Make sure you go to the Import Utility and Import/update the users into the V3.6.3

o        Start – Programs - DL Windows – Import Utility – follow instructions to import the users

·         Because we now have an Administration Support Screen, you must move the supervisory & functional users from the left hand side of the Global User Screen to the Administration Screen

o        Move users 1-11, 297 – 300 to Administration Screen

o        These users now will be added to every lock created automatically

·         V3.6.3 uses DTMIII or a DTMII that has been upgraded with an SE-DTMIII firmware chip.

·         Must use DTMIII in “Door Select Mode” to configure/program the Lock ID, this encrypts the door address, now called Lock ID for every lock in the account.  Must be done initially to all locks, one time.

·         Lock schedules do not transfer, they must be re-built for each lock

DL Windows Export an Account in V3.6x

Try this handy trick when you want to create another account in DL Windows software with the same users as an existing account. Rather than re-type the users name, PIN, HID Prox, etc, simply use our Export and Import tools in DL Windows.

Follow these easy step by step instructions:

·         This is a handy feature to “clone” (Export/Import) an account to create another account with the same users.  This saves time in not having to re-create and type in the same information, such as name, address, PIN, Prox, etc.

·         This does not carry over or clone the locks; they must be created as new locks as well as the schedules.  These can be done in a few easy steps

o        Open the account you want to “Export” the users.

o        Go to “Tools” and choose “Export Active Account to CSV”

o        Create a New Account, create the account name

o        Answer “No” when asked to create new locks

o        Double Click the new account created, answer “No” to No lock data available.  Would you like to create a new lock”

o        Go to Tools and choose – Import CSV File – Import CSV File from DL Windows

o        This will take all the users from one account and place them in the new account.

o        Create new locks, schedules and program the locks with your DTM or laptop

·         This is a great feature when you are wanting to manage multiple buildings, floors, dorms, etc all within the same company and all the users have the same profile

DL Windows Software

DL Windows Software Tips & Tricks

  • Previous versions must be uninstalled before installing the new versions
  • Removing or uninstalling does not delete the data files, only the software application
  • We do not recommend that DL Windows be loaded on a server.  If the end user does load on a server, it may corrupt files due to different speeds of the server/network.
  • Before uninstalling DL Windows software, ask if it is loaded on a server and get the IT people involved.  Click here to download DL Windows software

HID Card Formats

  • NAP36bit, is Alarm Lock’s proprietary card format and has a 19 Facility Code
  • HID35bit is used to program Corporate 1000 HID cards
  • HID37bit is an HID 37bit format, version 1
  • HD237bit, is an HID 37bit format, version 2

DL Windows upgrade questions - V3.0.1(4) – V3.5.6 versions

  • Make sure the customer understands what needs to be done upon completion of the upgrade
  • Must move users 1-11, 297 – 300 to Administration Screen
  • Must use DTM3, or a DTM2 that has been upgraded with an SE-DTM3 firmware chip
  • Must use DTM3 in “Door Select Mode” to configure/program the Lock ID, this encrypts the door address, now called Lock ID for every lock in the account.  Must be done initially to all locks, one time.
  • Lock schedules do not transfer, they must be re-built for each lock

Suggest end user backs up the files on a flash drive in case of computer crash

V3.01 – V3.04

  • Does not have an Administrative screen so the master code, manager codes, DTM codes, etc must be enrolled on the main global user screen
  • The master, manager codes add as a supervisor using the check box below the lock ID chart
  • The DTM code do not check any of the boxes below the lock ID chart and choose user 299 from the pop up using the scroll bar
  • Uses DTMII
  • Required Keypad programming and must match what is listed in the software
  1. DTM address using AL59 command (doors 1-96)
  2. DTM user 299 pin code
  3. Master code

V3.5x – V3.6.3

  • Has an Administrative screen for master, managers, DTM, etc.
  • Required keypad program
  1. DTM user 299 pin code
  2. Did you know that any DTM code can be used in the initial load of the data it does not have to match what is in the software?  I.E. the installer could put the DTM code to 111 and tell the end user the code is 111 even though the end users DTM code in the software might be 123158 the DTM will shake hands even though the codes are different. After the 1st loading the lock will have the DTM code 123158 from then on
  • Uses DTMIII
  1. Use Door select mode to address all locks, only is used on the initial programming
  2. The DTMIII will change the master code and will number the doors with DTM address
  3. Once lock is addressed using the DTMIII, all subsequent visits will use the lock mode
  • DL Windows V3.6.3 is now on the Alarm Lock Web Site
  1. The USB drivers are included on the CD Rom
  2. We have two new instruction manuals also included on the CD Rom.  Click here to download instructions in PDF format
  • The AL-PRE has a new feature when using V3.6.3. If you select a BIT type that is incorrect, a pop up box appears and tells the user that the BIT type entered was incorrect and then tells you which BIT type the card actually is

AL-PCI2 & AL-PCI2U

  • Laptops no longer have a serial port; therefore you must use a USB adapter available from Alarm Lock. This is available two ways, included in the AL-PCI2U product or you can order the adapter separately MX1130 and it will work with your existing AL-PCI2 cable.
