New Networx firmware for ETPDLN, PDL6100 and PDL6500

There is new firmware available for the Networx ETPDLN (exit bar trim), PDL6100 and PDL6500 on the technical webpage. Click here to download the firmware. If you are not registered for access to the sight, register by clicking on Register and fill out all the information requested. For instant approval, only check "Alarm Lock" for the Brands of interest.

This firmware, along with DL Windows 5.5.3, will allow use of the "Holiday Passage Mode Suppression" schedules. This schedule will allow you to suppress, override, all passage modes within a given time frame with only 1 scheduled event. It also allow for the "Emergency Lockdown User" option which is in the right click menu for a user in the Global User screen. This will allow you to designate whether a user can Lockdown the system and Return to Normal from the keypad.

DL Windows and Networx webinars set for August 6-8

There are new webinars scheduled for May 28-30. These live webinar sessions will cover the DL Windows software. Session 1 on May 28 will cover how to create an account and lock profiles as well as how to add users to the Global Users area. Session 1 will also show how to program the legacy locks with the AL-PCI2U cable and/or the DTM III module.

Session 2 will cover how to set up schedules including passage (open) mode, group and user enable and Open Window schedules. The session will also cover the Features of the locks such as Group 2 toggles passage mode.

Session 3 is on the Networx locks. This session will cover how to discover the gateways and locks. The Global Emergency Commands will be discussed and shown. These include lockdown, passage and return to normal.

All 3 sessions will be presented 3 times per day, 10 am, 1 pm and 7 pm Eastern Time. Don't miss out on these popular and valuable trainings.

How do I pair a wireless remote to a Networx PL lock?

The following pairing procedure assumes the PL Networx lock has been powered and at least one Administrative User proximity credential (Users 2-11) has been enrolled into the lock (its DL-Windows Lock Profile downloaded into the lock). Keep this proximity credential physically available, as it will be used during the below procedure. Note: The following procedure is unique to the PL Networx lock and is NOT supplied with the programming instructions included with the remote release (RR-1BUTTON, WI1999 and RR-4BKEYFOB, WI2004).

Proceed as follows:
1. Disconnect the lock battery connector.
2. Short the two white wires (Remote Input wires) together for 10 seconds to ensure discharge of all capacitors. After 10 seconds, remove the short.
3. Re-connect the battery pack. The lock immediately sounds 3 short beeps (if these 3 beeps are not heard, start again at step 1). Over the next 7 - 9 seconds, the lock performs its power-up self-test, and indicates it is ready to operate by sounding 7-beeps.
4. At the lock proximity reader, present the enrolled Administrative User (Users 2-11) proximity card. The lock unlocks and enters a 30-second "remote release enroll sequence" during which the green LED flashes.
5. With the remote release in hand, observe the remote release LED as you perform the next steps:
a. Press and hold a remote release button.
b. The remote release red LED lights...keep holding the button…
c. When the remote release LED flashes green, release the button...
d. Wait a few seconds...observe the LED as follows:
·  LED solid green = Pairing successful. To pair another button, go to step 1.
·  LED solid red = Pairing unsuccessful. Start again at step 1.

After step 5, the lock will exit the "remote release enroll sequence" and will return to normal operation

  

PL6100 locks must have at least 59.d firmware

ETPLN locks must have at least 63.d firmware

PL6500 locks must have least 60.f firmware

I would like to announce the Alarm Lock YouTube channel is up and has video training sessions on how to program the Alarm Lock Trilogy locks and how to use DL Windows programming software. Videos include how to change the master code in a DL2700 lock, how to activate passage mode in the T2 and T3 locks at the keypad and several topics on how to use the DL Windows software to program the Trilogy locks.

Do I need to upgrade the firmware in my gateways and locks?

The answer is YES. When new firmware becomes available for either the Alarm Lock Networx gateways or locks, you should upgrade. There are many reasons why but the most important is to keep the products up to date with the latest features.

When we create new versions of the DL Windows software, the Networx locks and gateways may have new features available such as remote lockdown. We also have new products such as the Generation 2 gateways and expanders that, if the locks have old firmware, may not work properly with these new items.

To see what version of firmware is installed in your gateways or locks, open DL Windows and then open "Gateway Config". The gateways will be listed and the current firmware version installed will be displayed. To find the installed firmware version of the locks, open the "Gateway lock table" and each lock assigned to that gateway will display the current firmware version.

Now go to the Alarm Lock software website, here, and compare your model of gateways and locks firmware with the most current. Now download the latest version of firmware and upload the firmware to the gateways or locks. NOTE: You may need to perform a full upload of the programming once the firmware is upgraded. It is recommended to do this even if explicit instructions don't indicate that you must.

Why do the batteries in my Alarm Lock Trilogy lock drain faster than expected?

Batteries that tend to drain quickly are often the result of either a simple mechanical issue or a programming oversight. 

Mechanical

• Check for wiring issues such as frayed wires that are shorted under the mounting bracket or broken strands of wire at the connecter pins.
• Check for corrosion inside the battery pack or on the battery holder terminals.  Corrosion can cause resistive shorts.

Programming

• Many lock models are equipped with an internal relay, and it is possible this relay may have been previously programmed to energize upon a lock event.  Energizing the internal relay repeatedly or for extended periods will quickly drain the batteries, therefore locks that are programmed to energize the relay should be wired with external DC power.  Otherwise, you may wish to consider reevaluating the use of features responsible for the relay activation, and if needed, disable all relay functions using either DL-Windows software or through the lock keypad (see the printed programming instructions for details).  Always observe all warnings detailed in the programming instructions for these relay features before programming your lock.

    DL Windows version 5.2.3 - Creating accounts and users: This webinar will teach you how to create a new account and add users to the software, both manually and using the CSV import utility. The utilization of manager, one time use and other special codes in the Administrative screen are also included. We will discuss Group assignments for users and what the group assignments are used for and how to program the Trilogy locks via the computer or DTM III.
Other topics discussed will be software users and their privileges in using the software from remote workstations.

    DL Windows version 5.2.3 - Creating schedules and lock features: This webinar will discuss schedules and features of the Trilogy locks via the software. Included will be how to set up a basic schedule, 1st person in schedule and Holiday schedules. We will discuss what each type of schedule is and how they are implemented in the locks.

    Networx connectivity: This session will discuss the Alarm Lock Networx locks which includes the Trilogy and ArchiTech locks. The gateway connection and discovering of locks will be shown. We will send programming and retrieve an audit trail via the network.
The sending Global Emergency Commands including Lock Down, Passage and Return to normal will be demonstrated.

Alarm Lock Trilogy and DL Windows Webinars

My travels across the nation have allowed me to meet a lot of people and train them on all the Alarm Lock Trilogy products as well as the DL Windows V.5.2.3. But there are still a lot of places that I have not been able to get to or you may not have been able to attend the training sessions in your area.

Trilogy Exit Trim

1. For Precision 1100 series, you need to specify P11 as a suffix in the part number when ordering from your distributor
2. Also, the Precision 1100 series has a back plate that is reversible and may need to be reversed to match our Trilogy ET Trim
3. For Precision 2100 series, specify V99 suffix in the part number and order a V99 back plate from Precision.  Both are available from your distributor.
4. Remember, there are two Sargent Exit Device's, old style pre-2001 order suffix S88, and new style order suffice N88.
